Readers of My Stroke by Dr. Weinstein will follow, step by step, his recovery from an Embolic Cerebrovascular Accident with Severe Aphasia. After his Stroke, he couldn't speak, read, write, sing or do arithmetic. This book takes a look at what goes into the spirit and soul of one stroke aphasia victim and survivor, the nuances that are not spoken about in cursory workshops and never detailed in lectures; a difficult journey with emotional highs and lows, anger and fear, issues of dignity and humiliation. He discusses shifting roles within the family, neuropsychological reports with throbbing pain and accomplishments. About the author Donald F Weinstein Ph D

Prior to my stroke/aphasia I had worked in education; a teacher, principal, curriculum director, Administrative Assistant for Research and Development, Curriculum and Instruction K-12 and an Associate Professor, teaching educational leadership and administration. I worked as a consultant in my own educational company directing, coordinating, and implemented computerized curriculum mapping programs and educational audits, and provided work-shops/conferences for industry, state department of education, school districts and professional organizations. I had written three books The Special Education Audit Handbook, An Administrator's Guide To Curriculum Mapping, and Juan B. Justo y Su Epoca After my stroke/aphasia, once I was able to speak, read and write, it was a natural sequel based on my education and my profession to write my book. I had my stroke and severe aphasia in 2002. By 2008, I finally finished writing, editing, rewriting and published "My Stroke: 450 Days From Severe Aphasia To Speaking, Reading and Writing: A chronology of the monthly activities, feelings and thoughts after my stroke and the assistance I received from professionals, loved ones and supporters." I became President of the National Aphasia Association and I worked dili-gently to get the word out about aphasia. I spoke to stroke and aphasia survivors, caregivers, cli-nicians, policemen, EMTS and the general population. Now I work to help aphasiacs control aphasia organizations (agencies, and groups), and ask aphasiacs to join an aphasia organization controlled by aphasiacs so that we have the muscle to make the federal government and private and municipal corporations listen to our concerns.
